There’s a workplace trent that has been going since the mid - ’90s called "self-promotion." When I first heard of it, in the United States, it was relatively acceptable among self-employed entrepreneurs, freelancers, and even among those in the corporate world. Self-promotion, considered by some to be boasting and by others to be an art, means doing away with false modesty and applying creative and confident methods to market your products, services and yourslef. If you are aiming for a business deal, you simply have to be more aggressive (without looking it) in following up "silent" prospects; if you are writing a resume, you make it more elaborate than the usual facts - only approach. In short, you are telling future clients or employers that you will definitely be an asset to their company.

Strangely, Jesus’ words in today’s Gospel reminded me of self-promotion - maybe because at first glance it points ho Himself. "All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me." If these words were uttered by a cell phone salesman, or even by a priest, for exmaple, it would indeed sound like the self-promotion of the most ridiculous variety, but Jesus is Jesus, and in our guts we know he is not simply boasting about his products, services or himself, nor is he regarding us as prospective clients whose approval or affirmation he needs.

Jesus’ words are backed up by "performance" - his works, miracles, life attest to the power he has been given, and we know where tat power comes from. If we must call his declaration of power "self-promotion" so be it, but let it enable us to ensure that our self-promotion is supported by excellent performance and the "right connection." To be healthy and fruitful, self-promotion must recognize that true power comes from God, who is Love. At the end of today’s Gospel Jesus tells his disciples "I am with you always " Thus, his "Self-Promotion" is not meant to ultimately point to himself but to assure us that with such power as his we cannot but win. Aim for the "right connection" then realize that in promoting yourself you also have the welfare of others at heart, and you will always win.

The way to discover real, satistfying answers about the ultimate purpose of our life is to ask our loving creator, God. God, in the bible explains that he created us and God loves his children just like the father. That the love He has for us has everyhing to do with how we live your life now, and our personal identity. It affects our friendship, our family relationship, our education and furthermore, our career. It makes all things worthwhile.

God tells us that he has created us to fullfill a great purpose. He wants us to develop the right character to be more like Him and His son. Jesus Christ. patience, mercy, faith, kindness, gentleness, meekness, and selfrestraint. Character involves knowledge, wisdom, ability and a sense of purpose, all properly controlled and developed. In the process, we learn what is right and wrong and learn to choose the right thing. as the saying goes, "Character is made by what you stand for; regulation by what you fall for." Character is something that is developed only through experience. Experience requires time and circumstnces. God created time and circumstances that produce character within us. He provides all the help we need. In other words our character traits, we become like God.

Does this mean our individual identity is swallowed up? No. God loves variety, and he created us with different talents. Our genetic make up and our backgrounds make us unique. God did not create a bunc of robots, and that’s what he wants. Choosing his way gives us an incredible identity and a tremendous meaning of our lives. Now, are we still confues where we fit in this world? Well, dare to develop yourself into the happy and unique individual God wants us to be Everything falls into place once our life has meaning.

Why God allows severe trials to enter the lies of his children, even to hedge them about, is one of the oldest questions in the universe. The problem of pain has engaged the finest and the most devoted minds from time immemorial and has never yet been satisfactorily resolved.

We believe that one day our God will make plain to his children the inscrutability of his ways; that in that golden morning when "we shall know as we are known," every question will be forever stilled, and we shall be eternally satisfied with his explanation.

Until then, we accept from his hand all that comes into our lives and seek to glorify him in and throught it. The entire human race is subject to suffering: "The same afflications are accomplished in your brthren that are in the world." But only the christian has hope of final answers to life’s mysteries. How much easier to take our sorrows from the Father’s hand, knowing his presence with us now and having his promise of light ahead, than to suffer alone and in the dark!

When God has accomplished in us that purpose for which he has allowed our afflictions to come to us, he termantes the afflictions either here or in heaven. Meanwhile, he succors us as we live with our problems. He hears the cry of his afflicted ones and has mercy on them. He has promised to be our strength, our fortress and our refuge in the day of affliction. His World is our comfort, no matter how great the trial.

"If you work for a man,
In heaven’s name WORK for him,
Speak Well of him
And STAND by the institution he represents.
Remember - an ounce of loyalty
Is WORTH a pound of CLEVERNESS.
If you must GROWL, condemn,
And eternally find FAULT,
Why RESIGN your position
and when YOU are on the outside,
Damn to your HEART’S content
But as LONG as you
Are PART of the institution
Do NOT condemn it,
If you do,
The FIRST high WIND
That comes along
Will blow you away
And probably YOU will never know why."

The first cooking oil fortified with vitamin A was launched recently with the signing of the technology transter agreement between the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and San Pablo Manufacturing Corporation, manufacturer of Minola coconut cooking oil.

Coconut oil was chosen because it has a high level of consumption among Filipinos and is an ideal carrier of oil-soluble vitamin A fortificant. Vitamin A is not lost during frying, and does not alter taste odor, and clear color of the cooking oil, DOST researchers said. The vitamin also remains stable in coconut oil; Minola stays good for 6-12 months.

Nutritionists disclosed that one-third of vitamin A recommended daily allowance can be supplied by one bananacue fried in the new cooking oil, or one galunggong, or 10 strips of fresh-friend kamote.

Maple Story is a free-of-charge, 2D, side-scrolling Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game developed by the South Korean company Wizet. Several versions of the game are available for specific countries or regions, and each is published by various companies such as Wizet and Nexon. Although playing the game is free, many player appearances and gameplay enhancements can be purchased from the "Cash Shop" using real money. MapleStory has a combined total of over 50 million subscriber accounts in all of its versions. MapleStory North America (Global), for players mainly in North America and outside of East Asia, Southeast Asia and Europe, has over three million players. In the game, players walk around in the "Maple World" and defeat monsters and develop their character’s skills and abilities, as is typical in role-playing games. Players can interact with others in many ways, such as through chatting, trading, and playing minigames. Groups of players can band together in parties to hunt monsters and share the rewards. Players can also join a guild to interact more easily with each other.
